Solotel manages risk and compliance with enableHR
Prominent hospitality group, Solotel, has transformed the management of its employees by using enableHR to resolve its HR/IR compliance risk across its 19 hotels and restaurants. Previously, the group operations manager had to physically visit sites to assist venue managers with managing their employees, now with enableHR, the 19 sites in the Solotel group can be managed remotely, freeing up the operations manager to focus on higher level support for managers. enableHR, with its web based architecture, provides venue managers with an easy to use solution that allows them to manage employees through al stages of their employment lifecycle and workplace health and safety incidents.
Swift expansion requires flexible approach
Solotel has been operating bars and pubs for 24 years and possesses a diverse portfolio of hospitality venues committed to providing high quality hospitality and service. Solotel creates unique establishments that cater to different markets, localities and customers, including the spectacularly stylish Opera Bar, the Parisian styled Quay Bar and the Eastern Suburbs institution, The Golden Sheaf. Previously, Operations Managers physically visited individual hotels ato deal with any HR issues that arose. It means visiting sites at all hours of the day and night and on weekends. With 19 venues across Sydney and in Brisbane, physically visiting each site became impractical and very expensive. The group sought help from enableHR to come up with an easy to use, compliant solution.
enableHR developed a customised Solotel solution covering every facet of employee management. It gives venue management a framework in which to manage the recruiting, induction, performance management, counselling, termination and workplace health and safety challenges facing the group. With template driven Q&A wizards and easy to follow workflows and checklists, venue managers have the tools and support required to take on their new responsibilities.
“With a workforce in excess of 1,200 employees and a high seasonal turnover in casual employment, we are now able to ensure that employee records are properly maintained,” Ms Brennan says.”If there are any requests from government agencies or past employees for information, this is easily accessible in enableHR”

Managing compliance risks
By installing enableHR, Solotel is able to manage all of its sites from one of the venues, the head office, iPad or home computer. The cloud based platform provides a real time solution, so a head office manager can see how any of the venue managers are performing at any time. The reporting functionality allows the group to plan for future management training on difficulties currently faced by managers and employees alike. The electronic profiles for each employee allow all documents, notes, workflows and WHS incidents relating to that employee to be stored in one location, assisting Solotel in meeting its record keeping obligations.
